A Professional Bloodhound Training and all Breed Tracking and Trailing Dog School

Pam Medhurst has been a volunteer with the San Diego Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Detail for 12 years and is the currently the K9 Pam MedhurstUnit leader. Always a lover of hounds, Pam first trained and worked a bloodhound and now runs slightly smaller hounds: Beagles! She has had great success with her trailing partner “Snickers” as well as 3 other Beagles that are crosstrained to trail and detect humane remains.

Pam keeps her trailing skills current by traveling to schools and seminars to gain experience. She also trains regularly with other K9 groups in her area. Pam has completed numerous trailing classes and 3 levels of certifications with her Beagles through the Canine Training Academy. Pam also completed a 100 hour trailing instructors course through the Canine Training Academy in 2008. She has written and performs a program for children called "Don’t Run Around, Stay Found" that she teaches in schools throughout the state of California. Pam has received the San Diego Sheriff’s Deputy of the Year award for 2000, 2004, and 2006. She has also received the Outstanding Community Service Award from Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, and 2007 Search and Rescue Member of the Year from the California Reserve Peace Officer’s Association. Pam Joined our team of instructors in 2008 and has been a huge asset to the Search and Rescue side of our trailing program.
