A Practical Guide to Training and Working the Trailing Dog

"This manual is dedicated to our students, who have chosen to dedicate their lives to the hardships, heartaches and personal rewards that come with a single word; “FIND’EM.” They have helped us to learn the most."

The Canine Training Academy is dedicated to pursuing and providing the most complete and effective training methods available to trailing dog teams. In our efforts to provide the best possible training, we have developed this book to assist trailing dog handlers in training their dogs.

This book is designed and intended to be a guideline for training and maintenance of the trailing dog. We are firm believers in a strong basic foundation. Much of this book consists of basic training methods for new, and experienced handlers so they fully understand the process of selecting, training and working a trailing dog.  It also contains tips on how to avoid potential, or correct existing problems. Although there are many training guides written to assist handlers in getting started, there are few that address problem solving techniques.

This book is a combination of our personal training experience, working knowledge of trailing dogs and training methods and tips from around the nation, which have proven to be sound and reliable. It is our intention to introduce handlers not only to our ideas and techniques, but also the ideas shared with us by other trainers and handlers over the years.

Hopefully this will give you, as a handler, several choices for training your dog since one single training method does not work in every case, for every dog.

We hope some of the information in this book will address a variety of trailing subjects and answer some of the most common questions presented by handlers.

This 95 page guide includes information and diagrams you will not see anywhere else!
